Exclusive: Finola Hughes Returns to General Hospital
Finola Hughes Great news...or a sign of bad things to come? TV Guide Magazine has learned exclusively that suds superstar Finola Hughes is returning to General Hospital as Anna Devane, the globe-trotting mother of Dr. Robin Scorpio (Kimberly McCullough). The Emmy-winning actress starts shooting the ABC soap in mid-to-late January and will hit the air during February sweeps. A GH spokesperson tells us the gig is "recurring, but front and center. Finola will be on our canvas for a while and be very involved with Robin and Patrick [Jason Thompson]." McCullough recently announced she'll be leaving GH to pursue a career in directing and it triggered a report on Showbiz411.com that her landmark character, an HIV survivor, may be killed off with AIDS rather than recast. Is this why Anna is coming back? "Mum's the word on that," says the spokesperson. "The writers are still working that out. Everyone is very aware of Robin's history of living with HIV and wants to do the right thing. I will leave it at that." Hughes, who came to fame in 1983 as John Travolta's leading lady in Staying Alive, the sequel to Saturday Night Fever, joined the cast of GH in 1985. CinemaCon honors Bekmambetov
CinemaCon has drawn on Timur Bekmambetov because the person receiving its Worldwide Filmmaker of the season award. Mitch Neuhauser, controlling director of CinemaCon, made the announcement Friday. The kudo will be provided on April 23, the outlet day's the 4-day event at Caesars Structure in Vegas. Bekmambetov is presently pointing and creating the live action adaptation of Seth Grahame-Smith's "Abraham Lincoln subsequently: Vampire Hunter," slated for any June 22 release from Fox. "That spin hurts. It hurts my wife, it hurts my family, it hurts me and it hurts the American people because you are being denied solutions to our problems," Cain said during the event, which prompted "Herman" chants from the crowd. I am at peace with my wife and she is at peace with me." Cain didn't hold back when addressing the media. "The pundits would like for me to shut up, drop out and go away but as my grandmother who lived to be 104 years old used to say, 'When somebody was dead wrong, bless their little hearts,' " he said. I am not going to be silenced and I am not going away." Plan B, as he called it, is a new website: TheCainSolution.com. "The people will choose, not the media, not the politicians," he said, adding that the people will show that they are still in charge. "I am disappointed that it came to this point, that we had to make this decision [to drop out]," Cain said. His original intent was to "change Washington D.C. from the inside. Plan B is that we're going to have to change it from the outside. It'll take a little longer and we'll have to work a little harder." Cain revealed near the end of his speech that he would be making an endorsement "in the near future." "I can tell you right now, it will not be the current occupant of the White House," he said. West Memphis 3 Sufferers Want Cinemax Documentary Excluded From Oscars
The 2009 August, Damien Echols, Jason Baldwin and Jessie Misskelley -- better known to as West Memphis 3 -- were released from prison. The trio happen to be billed with killing three youthful boys in 1993, however questions came into being through the trial and many wondered once they were wrongfully accused. These discrepancies were elevated in many Cinemax documentaries referred to as 'Paradise Lost,' which have been later credited with helping spring the three from prison. All the these films, 'Paradise Lost 3: Purgatory,' remains published for Oscar consideration inside the Best Documentary category. However, not everyone's happy with the options from it winning an award. Among victim's parents are presently lobbying the Academy to exclude 'Paradise Lost' from consideration. In the letter sent on November. 22, Todd and Dana Moore pointed out that, "Because of public pressure that skyrocketed due to gross misrepresentations of fact inside the two previous documentaries, [our boy] Michael's killings were unjustly in a position to initiate a plea agreement, were released from prison now pose additional risks to society. We implore the Academy not to reward our child's killings as well as the organization company directors who've are earning money from the most effective frauds ever perpetrated beneath the guise from the documentary film." In the response, 'Paradise Lost' co-creator Joe Berlinger pointed out the filmmakers "feel tremendous sorrow for [the victim's families]. We understand why a film which involves another conclusion in comparison to the things they're doing can make them feel using this method. We uphold our films. We fervently believe free air travel Memphis Three are innocent." The Oscar nominations will probably be introduced on Jan. 24, 2012.
